David & Collette recently visited HMP Berwyn for a lunch developed by the men in the kitchens. It was fantastic to see the work they are doing there firsthand.
We are in the process of piloting a training & development program at Dylan’s, hoping to encourage 12 – 16 trainees (over different periods throughout the year) to join our kitchen teams, and create a pathway for chefs to rise through the ranks with work-based training and day release at a local college. There will be no prior experience necessary, just enthusiasm & passion for a career in hospitality.
This project has been designed as a pilot and, as such, its template can be adapted to any hospitality business in the region, encouraging business owners to invest in training & development rather than rely solely on the labour market to resolve recruitment challenges.
Dylan’s will be working with partners in developing this scheme, one being HMP Berwyn, helping men get back in to work following a period of rehabilitation. Hopefully Dylan’s can offer career opportunities in the future!
